We look forward to a GREAT convention that everyone will find enjoyable and valuable. To that end, in a spirit of Christian brotherhood and for the purpose of establishing clear communication, we ask that all attendees read and agree to the following:
REGISTRATION
- All registration is online through our secure website.
- VISA and MASTERCARD are accepted.
- You may pay by personal check. Just complete the online registration and you will receive an invoice via email. You can then send in your check to the address provided in the email. All checks must be received within 10 days of your online registration, or your registration will be voided.
- You will receive a confirmation email immediately upon registration. You will then pick up your registration packet when you arrive at the convention.
GENERAL CONDUCT
- This is an outstanding and enjoyable event for homeschoolers! It is also a Christian event. As such, we desire that all conversation and conduct is only that which would honor the Lord, Jesus Christ. That is not to say that non-Christians or “secular” homeschoolers are not welcome. All are welcome! We just ask that all attending agree to respect and abide by the guidelines established for this event while they are attending.
- Attendees are not allowed to distribute literature of any kind to anyone. This is reserved for specifically for exhibitors, and this is restricted to the Exhibit Hall.
- The Convention reserves the right to require anyone that we deem to be disruptive to leave the premises immediately.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS
- There are no refunds – just as there are no refunds for tickets to a sporting event, concert or similar event.
WORKING SCHOLARSHIPS
- There are a limited number of Working Scholarships for those wishing to attend but unable to because of financial hardship.
- In general, volunteering to work for a half-day provides an opportunity for you to attend the convention for a half day at no charge. Volunteering for a full day provides an opportunity to attend the balance of the convention at no charge.
- For more information, please send an email to “info at MidWestHomeschoolConvention.com and put “working scholarship” in the subject line of your email.
VOLUNTEERS
- There are many opportunities for adults and teens who have a servant’s heart and a desire to serve fellow homeschoolers. For more information, please send an email to “info at MidWestHomeschool Convention.com and put “volunteer” in the subject line of your email.
EXHIBIT HALL ONLY REGISTRATION
- We have elected to make a daily SHOPPING / EXHIBIT HALL PASS available for Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Pricing is only $10 per person or $20 per family. This pricing is regardless of whether the pass is used for 5-minutes or all day. Please note: The Exhibit Hall Only Pass is not transferable.
SPEAKERS & EXHIBITORS
- A schedule of speaker topics, times and session descriptions will be posted online in January 2010. Please join our email list to be notified of any updates or changes to these items.
- While all speakers and exhibitors listed on our website have been confirmed, we recognize that there are times circumstances change, emergencies happen, etc. To that end, it should be noted that Speakers, Exhibitors and Schedules are subject to change at any time…with or without notice.
- Seating for all speaking sessions & workshops is on a first-come, first-served basis, and is limited (obviously) to the capacity of the room or auditorium that particular session or workshop is being held in. However, with a nearly 50% increase in seating capacity from 2009, this should not present any problems.
- Content of Speaker sessions may or may not reflect the opinion of the MidWest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati.
NURSERY
- A “nursery room” will be available for mothers needing to change diapers, feed babies, etc. Please note: This is not a staffed nursery.
CHILDREN & TEEN REGISTRATIONS
- We do require that any fussy or crying babies or children be immediately removed from any SPEAKING SESSION or from the EXHIBIT HALL so as not to ruin the convention experience for those around you.
- There is a suggested “TEEN TRACK” of speaking sessions that are specifically designed for teenagers. Teens are welcome to attend these sessions (or other sessions) with or without a parent, and at the discretion of their parent(s).
- Parents assume all responsibility for their children and their behavior.
- All children must be registered, are expected to be quiet while attending any speaking sessions and to be well-behaved while in a session or the exhibit hall.
- All children ages 12 and under are to be accompanied at all times by one of their own parents.
- If a child is deemed to be disruptive to a session or to the exhibit hall, the parent will be asked to leave the session or exhibit hall, along with their child, until such point that the child is able to be quiet and/or well-behaved.
AUDIO TAPING
- Attendees are not allowed to record any of the sessions as some speakers have specific requirements against this.
- Most of the speaking sessions will be professionally recorded, and will be available for purchase each day of the convention.
MEALS
- You will be able to purchase food and drinks on-site in the Duke Energy Center. The Duke Energy Center has specifically REDUCED on-site meal pricing for the Homeschool Convention, and is also providing a number of Children’s Meal options as well.
- Again, as a point of emphasis, you cannot bring your own food into the Duke Energy Center.
- You may eat in your hotel room, obviously.
- You may choose to take advantage of special Homeschool Convention meal pricing at the Millennium Hotel.
- You may also choose to walk approximately 1-block and eat in the Food Court of the Tower Place Mall or at Chick-fil-A or Chipotle on Fountain Square.
