CONVENTION WEEK – ATTENDEE UPDATE
In an effort to make your convention experience smooth and enjoyable, here is some important information and a few important reminders.
$5 PER DAY PARKING
In response to many recent emailed questions…the $5-per-day Parking Voucher DOES allow for overnight parking. You will, obviously, need to pay an additional $5-per-day.
By the way, in the event both of the parking lots listed on the Voucher reach capacity (they are also both open to the general public), we have made arrangements for this same company to redirect you to a third (3rd) nearby garage that they own. (Obviously, the Parking Voucher is only usable if there are parking spaces available. So, we’ve tried to make sure there is as much parking capacity available as possible at this reduced rate!)
WHEN YOU ARRIVE – PICKING UP YOUR REGISTRATION PACKET
The REGISTRATION DESK is located in the “lobby area” found at the bottom-right of this diagram – outside of the Exhibit Hall.
- Registration opens Thursday afternoon at 4PM
- Registration opens Friday morning at 7:15 AM
- Registration opens Saturday morning at 7:15 AM
You may present either A) a copy of your confirmation email, or B) a personal ID (such as your Driver’s License) when picking up your Registration Packet and wristband(s).
PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY
While we have a full-staff of fantastic volunteers scheduled for Registration Processing, please understand that there will be a very large number of attendees to be processed through the Registration Desk. Please arrive early! (It is not unusual for Registration Processing to require waiting in-line for 30 to 40 minutes during peak times such as Thursday afternoon, and early on Friday and Saturday mornings.)
WRISTBANDS
Wristbands are issued when you pick up your Registration Packet. Adults MUST wear these for admission to the Exhibit Hall or Seminar/Workshop Sessions. The wristband is plastic, and is designed for extended-wear. There is a $5-per-wristband charge for a replacement wristband.
CHILDREN in any SEMINAR or WORKSHOP SESSIONS
You will note that the convention is designed to be FAMILY FRIENDLY and FAMILY AFFORDABLE. And, we specifically DO ALLOW the attendance of children. You can read more about that right here.
REMINDER: If you are bringing children with you, PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE and IMMEDIATELY REMOVE any crying or fussy children from any Seminar or Workshop Session you are attending. Please do not ruin the ability for those around you to learn from a particular session, or ruin the recording of any particular session by remaining in the session with a fussy or crying child. Please, do not put convention staff in the uncomfortable position of having to ask you to leave a Seminar/Workshop session.
SEATING in SEMINAR & WORKSHOP SESSIONS
Reminder: All seating is “First Come / First Seated.”
FOOD CHOICES
The DUKE ENERGY CENTER does not allow food to be brought into the facility.
Food choices on-site will include Skyline Chili, LaRosa’s Pizza, a variety of sandwiches, salads, wraps and more.
The Millennium Hotel (connected to the Duke Energy Center via Skywalk) will be offering a Soup & Salad Bar at lunch-time on Friday & Saturday – along with their regular menu.
TWO ADDITIONAL EXHIBITORS!!!
Pleasant Vineyard Ministries Camp- a nondenominational camp, established in 1981, situated on an 80-acre former Boy Scout camp in Camden, OH. Their mission: To help children and teens build on a firm foundation in Christ Jesus by creating a safe and fun camping environment where personal relationships and memorable learning experiences are developed.
Southeastern University – a comprehensive university located in beautiful Central Florida. Primarily residential, they offer a Christ-centered education through 46 undergraduate majors and 8 graduate programs that prepare students for a life of world-changing leadership in a variety of professional careers and ministry-related fields.
DO YOU NEED TO MAKE REGISTRATION CHANGES?
You may upgrade from an INDIVIDUAL to FAMILY registration by paying the additional $20 at-the-door when picking up your Registration Packet.
Remember, this is for your IMMEDIATE FAMILY- Husband, Wife and children. This does not include sisters, brothers, etc.
Working Scholarships - if you do have a homeschooling friend or relative that wants to attend but is finding that finances are too tight this year…remember…Working Scholarships are available, and have been promoted heavily on the website and via our emailĀ updates.
You may add GRANDPARENTS to your registration by paying the additional $10 at-the-door when picking up your Registration Packet.
You may ADD an additional immediate family member to your “Family Registration” at-the-door. For example…adding a teenager that you didn’t think was going to be able to attend. Obviously, there is no additional charge for this…as it’s already included in your “Family Registration.”
THANK YOU!
We look forward to seeing you THIS WEEK at The HOMESCHOOL EVENT of the YEAR – the MidWest Homeschool Convention in Cincinnati!
